MAYOR WHITE: This 6:30 meeting tonight is for the public comments as far as the budget for the ‘09-10 year. That budget will probably be approved by — hopefully by July of this year.
And at this time I’ll open it up to the — Well, before I open it up to the floor I do want to say a couple of things. The — Of course, revenues have been decreased and the — You know, we’ve been working on several different things to try to increase revenue but the main things that I see that we’ll probably be working on is ditches, trying to get our facilities up to par and also pay past assessments. So that’s the three main things that I have that I would like to see addressed in this budget year.
So saying what I had to say, I’ll go ahead and open it up at this time to either council or to the floor as far as if they have any input as far as the budget goes.
COUNCIL MEMBER EUSTLER: I have a question.
MAYOR WHITE: Yes.
COUNCIL MEMBER EUSTLER: With regards to the new facility is there anything on the technology part that you need to be working on?
MAYOR WHITE: Rick, right now what we have, we had — About the only thing that we had is we’ve had Palmetto Rural come in and run some lines to each of the stations. We’ve had the camera system put in and as far as that, that’s where we’re at right now.
COUNCIL MEMBER EUSTLER: You need me to source any equipment or find any prices or do anything? Because originally we had a fairly large technology budget which we didn’t implement because we didn’t need it. So, I mean a lot of the equipment, that was donated and that was good.
I’m not sure if you have any needs here currently but since budget, if you have anything that needs to be researched just let me know and I’ll pull together whatever numbers are helpful.
MAYOR WHITE: Well, one thing that I didn’t — I didn’t bring it up in executive session last time but when we were talking about concerns as far as moving the town hall and all, the — You know, we want to go ahead, we have the council chambers completed but the — Well, not completed but I mean we’re close to completion.
The — But we want to eventually get the administrative offices over there. So if we do that and if we leave the police station over here, which, you know, will be the ideal situation, I don’t know what we’re gonna have to do as far as communication between the two -
COUNCIL MEMBER EUSTLER: Well, we can work that out.
MAYOR WHITE: — entities and I think that’s probably the main situation we have. I don’t know whether this server needs to go over there, what we need to do one way or the other. So.
COUNCIL MEMBER EUSTLER: Well, yeah, we can — I can work out on that but are you looking to do that this year?
MAYOR WHITE: I would like -
COUNCIL MEMBER EUSTLER: In this budget year?
MAYOR WHITE: Yeah.
COUNCIL MEMBER EUSTLER: I can plan for that, this budget year, which would be very, very similar to what we had planned for last year, minus a couple of things. I mean you’re gonna have the same sort of copier over there as well as here or . . .
MS. CROSBY: We’re taking this one.
COUNCIL MEMBER EUSTLER: Take that one.
That gives — That at least gives me come guidance on what you’re gonna need.
The connectivity between the two is gonna be interesting. How many different ways of dealing with that without a whole lot of expense, especially.
I’m guessing LawTrack is the big thing?
MAYOR WHITE: That’s right.
COUNCIL MEMBER EUSTLER: Okay.
I’ll give you more specifics later.
MAYOR WHITE: Okay. Thank you.
You know, as far as — Well, I’ll bring that up when we get into our regular meeting, as far as what we need to do over there but the project came along good. It was — You know, the technology end of it is definitely something needs to be addressed.
COUNCIL MEMBER EUSTLER: Okay.
MAYOR WHITE: Is there anything else?
(No response.)
MAYOR WHITE: Council?
(No response.)
MAYOR WHITE: Hearing none, I’ll go ahead and bring the — I’ll call for or entertain a motion to adjourn.
COUNCIL MEMBER COOK: I make a motion that we adjourn.
COUNCIL MEMBER STRICKLAND: I second.
MAYOR WHITE: All in favor?
(All council members indicated yes.)
MAYOR WHITE: Ayes have it. Thank you.
– Meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m. –
