TOWN CLERK REPORT – JULY 2008
- State Assessments went up first of July, which means tickets went up.
- Closed out the year 2007-2008. Auditors will be here on Thursday, July
10th to start work. I have already taken some reports to them. - I updated the employee’s handbook which council has under new business.
Page 9 concerned hours of business and payment wages. Page 10 was holidays,
took out the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Page 11 was on the annual leave
hours and sick leave that was changed due to bi-weekly pay. Page 14 was on
health insurance, it was changed to 80/20, which means if someone is hired
they pay 20% of health insurance and the town pays 80% until there 90 days
are up, then the town pays 100%. - Business license everyone has paid now.
- I meet with Michele Knight from LCOG on grants that are coming up August
25th. Had public hearing today at 6:00 p.m. on needs assessments. I will be
meeting with her again on July 30th. - Attended GFOA conference, also attended the LCOG meeting.
- Paid 2 assessments last month to bring assessments within 60 days.
- I have schedule a workshop for the planning commission, council and
mayor on July 12th at 4:00 p.m., this is for the new zoning ordinance. - T21 grant we have received back to make a few changes, will mail back
this week. The T21 grant does look promising for us. This will be for
signage, lights and landscape. - Meet with Alvin Brown on Wednesday from the CCTC. He met with the
traffic engineering that day. They are going to send their people back out
to look at a possible turning lane at Sally Ackerman and Hwy 17. Mr. Brown
said that the sidewalks down Peirce Road would require additional
right-of-way and that CCTC wouldn’t pay for that. It would be the town
responsibility for the right-of-way. The traffic engineering guys will be
getting back with Mr. Brown on an estimate for re-doing Peirce Road and Mr.
Brown will let me know what happens. - We received a grant from SC Muni Ins. Risk & Fin Fund (SCMIRF) to help
pay for a taser gun.
